::Undergraduate Project

Salam.

Undergraduate Project (UGP) a.k.a Projek Sarjana Muda (PSM), projek yang sume final year student kat UTM (kat u lain pon same rasenye) kene buat. Final year? OMG!! Aku dah final year?? Haha…sepatutnye macam tuh la, tapi hampagas punye lecturer, push aku sampai kau kene extend semester!! Nasib baik beliau lecturer, kalu tak memang dah kene tomoi dengan aku. Sabo jela..(sambil asah2 parang nak gi tetak lecturer tuh…haha)

Back to the story.

So, aku kene buat jugak UGP nih walopon aku tapi bukan kat akhir semester aku lah, sebab aku kene extend. Projek aku nih menarik, simple secare teorinye, tapi secare praktikalnye…fuhh.. hanye Tuhan yang tahu berselirat kepale hotak aku nih. Time aku tulis entry nih, dah 3 bulan aku duk mikir care untuk jadikan design aku untuk UGP possible!! 3 bulan tuh otak hang!!

Ape projek aku??

A simple generator. Have you been heard about wind turbine? Yup, exactly just like that, but as I’m a marine engineer to be, thus the turbine now is not for normal purposes, but for marine application. Means, I have to design a turbine to be used for marine application.

How does it work?

If wind turbine using wind, then marine turbine is using marine current!! Interesting right?? Yup..truly interesting even I’m not really like to design something that related to electric!! But this UGP make me fall in love to design and to solve the problems. Plus, my design is not like ordinary turbine, but a VERTICAL AXIS marine current turbine, a.k.a VAMCT.

Memang dah banyak design untuk VAMCT nih tapi belom ade yang sesuai untuk low marine current condition. Bape speed current tuh? Just 1 to 2 knots…about 1.8 to 3.5 km/h…so slow..really2 slow. But still be applicable as the density of sea water much higher than air!!.

Ape masalah aku? Cam ok je tengok…haha

Masalah aku ialah camne nak design VAMCT yang design die macam controllable pith propeller (CPP). Maksudnye paddle or blade yang aku design tuh boleh gerak2, in order to get the maximum force to rotate the turbine!!

Hm….setakat nih aku dah buat 2 3 design, tapi still kene ade banyak improvement untuk jadikan bende nh possible dan boleh rotate mase low sea current flow.
